Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position – Department of Economics, National Taiwan University

Professor Cheng-Ying Huang’s Research Lab at the Department of Economics, National Taiwan University (NTU), is seeking one highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Our research lab conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of neuroscience, neuroeconomics, psychology, behavioral economics, and experimental economics, with a particular focus on decision-making behavior and the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying it.

We are looking for a researcher who is highly motivated and proactive about scientific research, enjoys thinking deeply about research questions, and is eager to develop new lines of inquiry. In addition to the professional expertise required to conduct research projects, we particularly value researchers who read broadly across disciplines, proactively generate new research ideas, and are able to provide constructive scientific input on research questions, experimental design, data analysis, and the interpretation of research findings.

We expect the postdoctoral researcher to contribute not only to ongoing research projects, but also to the development and discussion of new research directions, with the opportunity to gradually develop original research questions that can be pursued independently.

Responsibilities

  1. Independently or collaboratively develop research questions and research projects in neuroscience, neuroeconomics, and related fields.
  2. Conduct broad interdisciplinary literature reviews and integrate findings across fields to formulate new hypotheses and testable scientific questions.
  3. Participate in experimental design, data analysis, interpretation of results, and academic writing.
  4. Actively participate in research discussions and provide constructive input on research design, analytical methods, and scientific arguments.
  5. Engage in interdisciplinary communication and collaboration with laboratory members and domestic and international research collaborators.

Qualifications

  1. A Ph.D. degree from an accredited university in Taiwan or abroad. Relevant backgrounds may include neuroscience, psychology, economics, cognitive science, data science, natural sciences, or other related fields.
  2. Strong motivation, curiosity, and initiative in scientific research, with a willingness to continuously explore new research questions.
  3. Strong independent thinking skills, with the ability to develop one’s own scientific judgments based on the literature and research findings and to propose concrete research ideas.
  4. Willingness to read broadly across disciplines and ability to integrate theories, methods, and research findings from different fields.
  5. Ability to communicate ideas clearly in research discussions and to raise and respond to scientific feedback in an open and constructive manner.
  6. Strong academic English reading, writing, and communication skills.
  7. Experience in programming, data analysis, computational modeling, or related research methods is highly desirable. Applicants who can effectively leverage modern computational or AI tools to support research are also welcome.

Salary:
According to the salary scale for postdoctoral research fellows under relevant National Taiwan University research projects.

Appointment:
The position is available immediately. The appointment is for one year and may be renewed depending on research performance and project funding.

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, with flexible working hours in principle.
