5th Sun-Chen Lecture

Nobuhiro Kiyotaki
Professor Kiyotakiis a Japanese economist and the Harold H. Helms ’20 Professor of Economics and Banking at Princeton University. He is especially known for proposing several models that provide deeper microeconomic foundations for macroeconomics, some of which play a prominent role in New Keynesian macroeconomics.

Professor Kiyotaki visited Dept. of Economics, NTU from June 11 to June 14, 2025, and talked about “Credit Horizon, Interest Rates, and Growth” and “Intangibles, Inequality and Stagnation”.

6th Sun-Chen Lecture

Jeffrey C. Ely Ely
Professor Jeffrey C. Ely is currently the Charles E. and Emma Morrison Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics at Northwestern University, a former founding co-editor of Theoretical Economics, and a former co-editor of the American Economic Review. He has made important contributions to various fields of microeconomic theory and frequently writes on economic and political topics on his blog, Cheap Talk.

Professor Ely visited our department from December 11 to December 26, 2025. During his visit, Professor Ely will give two lectures: on December 22, the lecture topic is “Screening with Tests,” and on December 23, the lecture topic is “Managing Information Over Time.”

7th Sun-Chen Lecture

Stephen Edward Morris
Professor Stephen Edward Morris is currently a Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He works deeply in game theory and microeconomics, specializing in social interactions under incomplete information and mechanism design. As a former president of the Econometric Society, his academic influence is profound and far-reaching.

Professor Morris will visit our department from March 18 to March 19, 2026. During his visit, he delivered two lectures:
