Project Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support an ongoing research project under the supervision of Dr. Stacey H. Chen, The University of Tokyo. The project focuses on (1) the relationship between hospital quality and ambulance care and (2) the gender issues in ambulance care and involves empirical analysis using large-scale datasets at the Ministry of Public Health and Welfare.

This position is well-suited for students considering graduate study (Master’s/PhD) or research-oriented careers in economics, finance, public policy, or related fields.

Responsibilities

The Research Assistant’s duties may include:

  • Data cleaning, management, and documentation
  • Empirical analysis using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, Python)
  • Preparation of tables, figures, and research notes
  • Other research-related tasks as assigned
  • Communications with different sectors/ people

Qualifications

Required:

  • Background in economics, finance, statistics, business, or related fields
  • Familiarity with at least one statistical software package (Stata, R, Python, SAS)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Good written communication skills in English

Time Commitment & Compensation

  • Time commitment: Approximately 25 hours per week (flexible)
  • Compensation: Hourly incentive pay plus a monthly stipend according to the regulations of the National Taiwan University and the University of Tokyo
  • Work mode:  Remote / In-person / Hybrid
